SNORING
Snoring is a common condition affecting about 20% of adult population. It could be simple snoring or sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing very frequently during sleep.
If chronic snoring or sleep apnea is troublesome then you consult your GP , who may then refer you to see and ENT specialist.
The specialist will examine your nose and throat and determine where the problem lies . He may arrange sleep oximetry which is a portable machine to measure your oxygen levels when you sleep. It will also measure your pulse rate.
Depending on the all the investigations various treatment options will be discussed with you. It may be nasal , throat surgery or CPAP machine.
HOARSENESS OF VOICE
It is a very common condition and in most cases will clear up on its own. If it is persistent for more than 4 weeks you will need to see your GP , who will then refer you to see an ENT specialist.
The surgeon will examine the your throat by passing a endoscope / telescope through your nose to look at the voice box. Depending on the diagnosis treatment options will be discussed
